he Isle of Paradise is 65,610 sq. km in extent with variety in climate, elevation, animal and bird-life, insects and vegetation and the friendly smiling people integrating in a rich cultural heritage.

Surrounding the country is the Indian Ocean with its abundance of natural resources that are replenished by the flowing waters of the four main rivers of the island – Mahaweli, Kelani, Kalu, and Walawe.
