DAY 01: AIRPORT / COLOMBO

Evening leave for City Tour of Colombo.

DAY 02: COLOMBO / KANDY
After breakfast, leave for Kandy via Pinnawela. Visits the Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawala.

ELEPHANT ORPHANGE
The enchanting orphanage providing a home for elephants ranging from babies to grandparents is situated close to Maha Oya. In this enviornments,they move around, bathe, play and also mate. The aim is to conserve these magnificent creatures facing extinction and a visit to the orphanage is well worth being included on a tour of Sri Lanka.

En route visits Spice Gardens at Mavanella.
SPICE GARDEN
Visit a spice garden at mavanella which grows spices and herbs used for Sri Lankan cuisine and medication. Spices of Sri Lanka attracted the early sea faring merchants who made the long voyages to purchase this precious merchandise.

P.m. Visit art and craft centre and Gem Bureau where you will be shown a documentary film on how Sri Lankan Gem mining is traditionally done

TEMPLE OF THE TOOTH OF RELIC OF BUDDHA
Visit the Temple of the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha. This temple, the most important one for The Sri Lankan Buddhists was built in the 16th Century A.D. solely for the purpose of housing the tooth relic. Observe the magnificent Architecture of that period and experience the tranquility of the atmosphere.

CITY TOUR OF KANDY
Sight seeing of kandy including Upper Lake Drive and visit to Art and Craft Centres.

DAY 03: KANDY / NUWARA ELIYA / KANDY.
Breakfast at Hotel. After breakfast leave for Nuwara Eliya excursion by train. The journey by train to Nanu Oya is a beautiful experience.
The diesel locomotive will take you on winding tracks emerging through tunnels unfolding beautiful scenery of cascading waterfalls and tea plantations that appear as green carpets. The climate will change from that of comfortable Kandy to cool misty mountains with nippy fresh air greeting you on very side. You will disembark in Nanu Oya at 6000 feet above sea level. Met by our representatives and transfer to Nuwara Eliya for City Tour, including visit to the Sita Amman Temple & the 18 hole Golf Course. The drive from Nuwara Eliya to Kandy by road is a different experience compared to the Journey by Train.

Return to Hotel in Kandy for overnight stay.

DAY 04:KANDY / PERADENIYA / SOUTH COAST.
After breakfast, leave for South Coast Beach Resort. En route visits

BOTANICAL GARDEN
En-route visit the Botanical Garden Peradeniya. Which was a pleasure garden of a Kandyan King of the 16th Century and later made in to a Botanical Garden during the British regime. This gardens, one of the best in Asia is a place of beauty and site for bird watchers.

The picturesque countryside will change to tropical profusions and warmer climes through Rubber plantations.

Arrive at the Beach resort and check in for Overnight Stay.

Day 05: EXCURSION TO GALLE
After lunch, leave for Excursion to Galle.

En route Visit the Turtle Hatchery.
TURTLE HATCHERY
Projects have been launched to conserve the population of turtles that are reaching extinction and such projects are found along the southern coast of Sri Lanka where turtles come as hop to lay their eggs. The turtle digs a hole on the Beach, Lais hers eggs and covers it with sand where it is suppose, incubate by the heat of the sun. What often happens is the eggs are dug out by fisherman and sold to people who consume them.
But now the eggs are bought up by the conservation projects and hatched the Natural way in enclosed areas and the Birds don’t have a chance of picking them up. This offers them a better chance of survival.

GALLE DUTCH FORTRESS
An ancient city which is now a modern and buzzing town today. It was the most important sea port way back in history, where the sea faring merchants arrived to trade and barter. This is also where the Portuguese first set foot in the year 1505 and built a fortress, Which was later captured and fortified by the Dutch. The fortress is one of the best preserved in the island. A visit to the fortress and to watch the sunset from the rampart is an experience unforgettable.

The oldest Protestant church in the country called the ‘Groote Kirk’ built by the Dutch is located inside the Fort. It is situated close to New Oriental Hotel also built by them as the Governor’s Residence in 1684.

DAY 06 – 10:BEACH STAY AT SOUTH COAST
Beach stay at leisure and water sports such as Boating Diving, Sea Bathing, Wind Surfing, Scuba Diving, Jet Scooter. If a Visitor wishes to experience any Ayurvedic Herbal Care for nature’s treatment, a Hotel is selective.

DAY 04 : ANURADHAPURA / POLLONNARUWA / SIGIRIYA
After breakfast leave for Polonnaruwa.

NUWARA ELIYA CITY TOUR
Drive through the little town of Nuwara Eliya observing the well-maintained buildings of colonial Architecture. Visit the lake Gregory built for generating power during the British Colonial age but now a feature that adds beauty to the city.

DAY 08 : NUWARA ELIYA / HORTON PLAINS / NUWARA ELIYA.

Horton Plains situated 7200 feet above sea level covers an area of 7000 acres. Cool water springs which are the starting points of many rivers are found here. This plains formally called the Mahaweli Plains was renamed after the second British Governor of Sri Lanka who was Robert Wilmot Horton. One of the greatest Nature walk could be done at Horton Plains. Walking through rhododendron Giant fern and occasionally crossing a brooke you arrive at Bakers Fall which is named after Thomas William Baker the pioneer of farming. You will also view the Breath Taking sight of worlds end which is a steep precipice, A sight to behold.
