The
Isle of Paradise is 65,610 sq. km in extent with variety in climate,
elevation, animal and bird-life, insects and vegetation and the
friendly smiling people integrating in a rich cultural heritage.
Surrounding
the country is the Indian Ocean with its abundance of natural
resources that are replenished by the flowing waters of the four
main rivers of the island – Mahaweli, Kelani, Kalu, and
Walawe. All of these spring from the geo-magnetic centre of the
island – “Sri Pada” or known as Adam’s
Peak, a mountain that is of equal spiritual significance to Buddhists,
Hindu’s, Muslims and Christians of the country and the world.
The
Mountain areas in the central region of the country gradually
ease out to hills and plains down to the sea beach of the coast
while the temperature and humidity increase.
Kandy
has the most comfortable climate and is located at medium elevation
while Nuwara Eliya, much higher in the central region is the most
salubrious city in the country.
Around
Sri Lanka, there are many places to visit, things to touch, smell
and hear that will make your holiday a memorable one indeed and
the only way to experience these would only be to visit !
