SUN
AND SEA IN SRI LANKA |
|
The
beaches of the Island are some of the best in the world and have a
temperature of about 27°C. |
| |
|
| |
 |
The
South Coast beaches where the final stop would be on a Round Tour
of Sri Lanka will offer much of a golden sandy beach with activities
such as snorkeling, sea bathing, sun bathing and other water sports
and leisure with mouth watering seafood to tease your taste-buds.
There will also be entertainment in the form of music, dancing and
magic shows at the Beach Resorts. There are sunkissed beaches from
Kalutara to Koggala passing through Beruwela, Bentota, Induruwa
and Hikkaduwa that will afford much of the above. While at the South
Coast, we could arrange for you to visit the seafood market, buy
seafood of your choice and prepare your barbecue on the beach.

An
optional visit can be made to the Dutch Fort in Galle while being
based at the South Coast. Galle is a city with a history of mainly
Portuguese and Dutch influence.
The Protuguese arrived on the Island in Galle in 1505 A.D. and a
fort was built by the Dutch in the 17th century in Galle. Although
life in Galle town is busy being centred on the Bus and Railway
stations, inside the Fort, it becomes very quiet and takes you back
two to three centuries. The oldest Protestant church in the country
called the ‘Groote Kirk’ built by the Dutch is located
inside the Fort. It is situated close to New Oriental Hotel also
built by them as the Governor’s Residence in 1684. |

There
are beaches on the West Coast of the Island too. You could arrive
at these especially in Negombo at the start or the end of the tour
since they are only 20 minutes distance from the Airport. Negombo
is famous for seafood from both the sea and lagoon and has a beach
area although the South Coast beaches are better. |

Although
not accessible due to the war situation of the country, the East
Coast beaches including those at Trincomalee enhance the beauty
of the country with warm waters, pink skies and jungles. (On tour,
you will be able to cool off with“Thambili”- King coconut
and enjoy juicy Pineapple at various stops). At the end of the Tour,
you will wind up at the Airport for departure leaving behind a truly
beautiful Island and its friendly people. |
